Finding the right backpack bag

Alpine travellers relied on a rucksack to keep their survival equipment, food, spare clothing and water safe and dry. Their rucksacks featured hands-free design and this allowed them to travel through rough and treacherous mountainous environment, without their rucksack wearing them down. These rucksacks later evolved into the modern day backpacks. Backpack bags are common in places like colleges and Universities. One of the main reasons why people prefer backpacks is that, they evenly distribute the load on the wearer’s back without causing strain.  You have plenty of options to choose with respect to design, material used and functionality.

  • Backpack Bags made of canvas material do not feature a rigid frame and used for daily transportation of books and other items. These are common with college and University students. Professionals usually go for backpack bags that offer compartmentalized storage options for storing electronic items and other accessories. These backpacks are designed for daily use and can withstand certain amount of wear and tear. They come in different colours and style.

  • Polyester backpacks are best for light daily use, like for carrying your gym clothes, towels or small equipment. They are less expensive and more durable than a canvas backpack. They have excellent stain resistance qualities, so cleaning them is very easy.
  • Backpacks designed for certain hobbies or profession fall under the speciality backpack category. They are usually made of nylon and are strong and durable. An example of such a bag is a photographer’s backpack. They have numerous compartments sized to hold lenses and other photographic equipment. They are usually waterproof and come with additional features like hip and chest belt to keep the Bags steady and to keep the strain as minimal as possible.

  • For a business environment, leather backpacks are the choice. From artificially distressed leather for a casual business environment to a more suitable formal maroon smooth-surface exterior, these leather backpacks are stylish, sometimes featuring a handle and easy to carry around. Some of these Backpacks come with attachable shoulder straps, so you can make your backpack into a messenger bag, which is a helpful feature if you frequently use public transport and you need some flexibility when it comes to your backpack.

Canvas/polyester backpacks come with some standard features like zippered compartments to hold documents, tablets and other large items. Smaller sider compartments can hold pens, water bottles and other knickknacks. Some bags come with optional features like compartment for iPod, with pre made hole for the earphones, waterproof exterior and interior and sometimes with reflectors on the sides or on the back. Leather backpacks have buckle closures for compartments and the stitching is visible on the exterior of the pack, giving it a classier look. Other optional features include detachable shoulder strap, interior zippered or mesh pockets for carrying your laptop.
